Video Game Basics Course To Start On July 11
Following the success of the Video Game Design Challenge, Bermuda Island Games has started offering lessons for those who want to learn how to build their own video games and a new 6-week course to learn video game basics will begin on July 11th at Warwick Academy.
Founder Adrian Lodge said, “This course is one of three video game courses we are putting on this year for adults and teenagers who want to learn the different aspects of video game development.”
“In February we started with the Intro to Digital Artwork course, which covered Photoshop, Illustrator and Blender software. This summer we will be teaching how to use Unity and Roblox Studio for building games. And in October we’re planning on teaching video game programming using Visual Studio.”
“Our aim is to inspire a new generation of game developers in Bermuda and give them the tools to succeed. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to share our knowledge with those who are interested, either as a hobby or as a full-time career, in this industry.”
A spokesperson said, “The course will be held on Tuesdays for teenagers [aged 13-17] from 5:30-6:30pm and on Wednesdays for adults [aged 18+] from 5:30-6:30pm. To register or find out more information you can visit the website: www.bermudaislandgames.com.
“Additionally, Bermuda Island Games are also putting on an E-Sports summer camp at Warwick Academy for children aged 8-14 who enjoy playing and competing in video game tournaments. The camp includes physical activities such as swimming/basketball/football as well as lessons each week on cyber-bullying, online safety, and tips and tricks from the experts.
“Special thanks to our sponsors BEDC and the Bermuda Government Economic Development Department for helping to make this possible.”
