Bermuda Squash Team Compete In Cayman
The XXVIII Senior Caribbean Squash Championships in the Cayman Islands continued.
In men’s singles action, Micah Franklin won his second round match, defeating Jason-Ray Khalil from Guyana 11-4, 11-5, 11-9.
Franklin next took on number one seed Khamal Cumberbatch from Barbados; the pair battled for 55 minutes in a five setter that saw Cumberbatch win 9-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-13, 11-1.
In the men’s singles consolation round, Matthew Elliott defeated Anthony Allum 11-4, 11-4, 11-2. Elliott then fell 11-8, 2-11, 3-11, 11-2, 5-11 to Dan Schwier in a 28 minute battle.
Armin De Weerdt defeated Bradley Kuttner 11-6, 14-12, 11-9. Weerdt then fell 11-0, 11-8, 11-6 to Stewart St John in 16 minutes.
Anaya Smith lost to Samuel Ince-Carvalhal 9-11, 12-10, 13-11, 11-3.
Taylor Carrick defeated Leonel Sorrillo 11-0, 11-5, 11-2. Carrick then defeated Jace Jervis 12-10, 2-11, 11-7, 11-7 in a 29 minute battle. In the men’s singles consolation semi-final, Carrick defeated Samuel Ince-Carvalhal 11-4, 11-9, 11-4 in a 25 minute battle.
