Ross Caesar has claimed a third-place finish in the men’s classic physique at the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness [IFBB] Pro League Masters Olympia in Cluj, Romania, this weekend.

Caesar was up against some of the world’s elite competitors at the prestigious event, held at the BT Arena, which made a return to the bodybuilding calendar after an 11-year hiatus.

The six-times “Mr Bermuda”, who has been competing for three decades, said he was “over the moon” with a podium finish in his first Masters Olympia.

“This was the biggest show I’ve done, so to place in the top three is a great achievement – this is the pinnacle,” Caesar, 50, told Bernews.

The Bajan earned his IFBB professional card after winning the classic physique at Joe Weider’s Olympic Amateur South America in Medellin, Colombia, in 2019.

Caesar, the first local-based athlete to compete in the Masters Olympia, added: “The atmosphere backstage was electric. To be on stage with guys I’ve seen in magazines was a great experience.

“No man is an island, and I have many people to thank in the Bermudian bodybuilding community, such as Garwin Philips, Carmichael Bryan and Melanie DeRosa.”

The Masters Olympia included ten divisions: the men’s open, men’s 212 bodybuilding, classic physique, men’s physique, women’s bodybuilding, women’s physique, bikini, fitness, wellness and figure.

The champions from each division secured a position in the Mr Olympia competition in Orlando, Florida, in November.

Caesar, who trains at Ultimate Fitness Gym in Devonshire, will now switch his focus to the IFBB Pro Masters World Championships in Pittsburgh next weekend.
