Bermuda Women’s U17 Qualifiers Team Named

Bermuda Under-17 Girls’ National Team head coach Gary Adams has named the 21 players who will represent Bermuda in the Dominican Republic.

A spokesperson said, “The tournament’s official draw, which divided the 26 participants into six groups, occurred on July 6. Bermuda was drawn in Group F along with Canada, Guyana, and Dominica.”

Bermuda Under-17 Girls’ National Team Roster:

  • Goalkeepers [3]: Aaliyah Haffer, Alessandra Hughes, Taya Rodrigues
  • Defenders [7]: Ayshalay Simons, Christia Lugo Elibox, Janiya Sealey, Jayla Peets-Butterfield, R-Zaneé Evans-Wadron, Saony Trott, Zalaye Showers
  • Midfielders [7]: Amiya James, Breanna De Silva Medeiros, Camryn Lines, Evans Welch, Karis Brooks-Smith, Keyandae Lightbourne, Ziae Castle
  • Forwards [4]: Avanni Patton, Eva Tuzo, Ja’Shay Trott, Robin-Valana Pearman

Concacaf Women’s U17 Team Bermuda Football August 2023

When asked his thoughts on the team and his expectations of them in the 2023 Concacaf W Under-17 Qualifiers, Adams had this to say, “It’s an honor to lead these young ladies into these Qualifiers. They have remained positive and shown their dedication and commitment through an intense summer training program. We expect them to give an honest account of their hard work and remain competitive within our group.”

The spokesperson said, “The 26 national teams participating in the tournament are Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Cuba, Curacao, Dominica, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Martin, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, and US Virgin Islands.

“On August 24, 2023 we were advised that a participating Member Association has decided to with draw which impacted our group.

“The match schedule for Team Bermuda is below.

  • August 28 vs Dominica
  • August 30 vs Canada

“After round-robin group stage play, the six group winners will advance to the 2024 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship, joining the top 2 ranked nations, Mexico and the United States, that have been seeded directly into the Championship’s group stage.

“The Bermuda Football Association would like to thank the coaches, players, and staff for their hard work and dedication in preparing for the upcoming tournament. We encourage all of Bermuda to support the team in their campaign. Additional details will be provided as received.
