Bodybuilder Mikle Dill is excited to step on stage for the first time in a local competition when he competes in the NPC Worldwide Royal Grand Prix Bermuda Regional at the Ruth Seaton James Auditorium tomorrow [September 9].
The 25-year-old will participate in the men’s classic physique class and said the island meet is the next phase in his quest to win a coveted pro card.
“I’m looking forward to stepping on stage in my home country,” Dill told Bernews.
“I wanted to compete last year [at the IFBB Pro League Caribbean Grand Prix Bermuda Pro Qualifier] but wasn’t in top condition.
“It means the world to me to show off my craft in front of my family. It would be great to pull off a victory.”
Dill will look to build on his debut performance at NPC National Qualifier Tri-City Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Columbus, Georgia, in March, finishing second in the novice class and third in the open class in the classic physique.
“I’m looking to put on a good display for the show,” he said. “I need to compete in this event to be able to enter overseas competitions where I can win a pro card.
“I’ve been pushing myself to a deeper place to make myself look better [on stage].”
The former Bermuda rugby player hopes to win a pro card at the NPC Worldwide Olympia Amateur Italy in Milan in October or the NPC Worldwide Caribbean Grand Prix Bahamas Pro Qualifier in November.
Earning a pro card will enable Dill to compete at professional shows for cash prizes.
“The goal has always been to win a pro card,” Dill said. “The intention has always been about taking it as far as I can.”
Dill, who trains at the Beast Gym in Hamilton under Muhsin Nasir and Ross Caesar, added: “I compete in Italy next month, and if I don’t get my pro card there, I’ll go to the Bahamas the following month.
“If I’m still without a pro card, I’ll go back to the drawing board to see where I can improve.”
