Govt Issues Statement Post Hurricane Lee

September 15, 2023

The Ministry of National Security is advising the public that the island’s main roadways are clear for passage.

A Government spokesperson said, “Following assessments by the Ministry of Public Works and utilities crews, the Ministry of National Security is advising the public that the main roadways are clear for passage.

“The public can move about the main thoroughfares, but are encouraged to continue to use caution as they commute, as workers are clearing away some debris along the roads.

“The Causeway is clear for traffic. And the area of South Road between John Smith’s Bay and Watch Hill Park which was closed yesterday, is currently being cleared of debris and is expected to reopen later this morning.

“Government Offices will resume in-person services at 12noon today.

“As the public is aware, government schools are closed today, and this will be an opportunity for thorough assessments to be made of all the school facilities to ensure they are ready for students to return next week.

“As weather conditions continue to ease further updates will be provided as it relates to the resumption of public transport – buses and ferries.

“The next Bermuda Weather Service [BWS] update will be at 12.00 p.m. today.?
