Strong Attendance For 11th BILTIR Conference
The Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers [BILTIR] announced an “excellent attendance of 300 delegates across its 11th annual Bermuda International Life & Annuity Conference and supporting events.”
A spokesperson said, “Held at Pier 6 in Hamilton, Bermuda the successful event featured a gathering of industry leaders providing insights on key issues within the industry, including: the economy, financial markets, geopolitics, pension benefits, post-covid mortality, and the convergence of asset management and life re/insurance.
“Special invitees for the Regulatory panel were NAIC President elect, Commissioner Andrew Mais of the State of Connecticut Insurance Department and Commissioner Gary Anderson of the Massachusetts Division of Insurance. This was the first time that BILTIR has hosted onshore regulators at its annual conference. Commissioners Mais and Anderson were joined on their panel by Martin Maringi, Deputy Director Insurance Supervision of the BMA, where they discussed the current regulatory climate impacting the long term reinsurance market and the strong ties between the National Association of Insurance Commissioners [NAIC] and the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
“The conference keynote speaker was Jason Schenker, Chairman of The Futurist Institute and the President of Prestige Economics, who shared his views on the US economy, its outlook, and how it might impact some of the sector’s longer-term business considerations.
“The conference was opened by Bermuda Premier and Minister of Finance the Hon. E. David Burt, JP, MP at the Welcome Reception hosted by Bacardi International and sponsored by Aon.”

BILTIR represents 56 life re/insurers and 21 associate members in Bermuda who provide life and annuity products and employ more than 1,000 people on the island.
