Diabetes Association Launches New Campaign
The Bermuda Diabetes Association has launched its ‘Live Your Best Life’ campaign in recognition of Diabetes Awareness Month, with a series of events to take place throughout November.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Diabetes Association is thrilled to announce the launch of their ‘Live Your Best Life’ campaign as part of Diabetes Awareness Month. This digital campaign is designed to educate and inspire the diabetes community, as well as create greater awareness of diabetes prevention amongst the general population.
“The Association wants everyone with diabetes to know that it supports them. No matter where people are on their health journey, the Association’s goal is to empower them to take control of their health.
“The ‘Live Your Best Life’ campaign aligns with the Association’s mission of preventing diabetes and providing quality care and resources to help people living with diabetes.
“In addition to the digital campaign, the Bermuda Diabetes Association has organized a series of events throughout November, which the Association welcomes the community to attend:
- World Diabetes Day. Open House and World Diabetes Day Concert: On November 14th, the Association invites everyone to join them at their annual open house event from 10 am to 2 pm at the Hilton Hill Diabetes Center on 22 Princess Street. Free health screenings, stay-active demonstrations, food tastings, giveaways and more will be available for all attendees. The day will culminate with a special concert at Holy Trinity Church [Hamilton Parish], featuring Professor Michael lean on fiddle, with Patsy Seddon, Harpist and Musician in Residence, Edinburgh University The School of Scottish Studies, joined by members of the Bermuda Folk Club and Bermuda School of Music. Refreshments and a short presentation on diabetes will follow. This event is free and open to everyone.
- Prediabetes Screening: Free prediabetes screenings will be available throughout the month. An easy 3 -minute prediabetes risk assessment and appointments can be scheduled via their website at www.diabetes.bm.
- Denim for Diabetes: On November 16th, the Association is celebrating its annual “Denim for Diabetes” tag day. The public is encouraged to wear denim in support of diabetes awareness. You can show your support by donating at designated tag locations across the island or through the Association’s online platform.
- Chronic Kidney Disease Screening: On November 30th, the Bermuda Diabetes Association will host a free chronic kidney disease screening for early detection of kidney disease. Check their website at www.diabetes.bm to see if you are eligible and to book an appointment.
