The Ministry of Public Works & Environment said they are “continuing island-wide work to improve road conditions and respond directly to community concerns, with visible progress delivered across multiple parishes over the past week.”

Focused Action Where It Matters Most

A Government spokesperson said, ”Over the weekend of April 11–12, Ministry crews carried out targeted pothole repairs across the island, focusing on the most heavily affected areas identified by residents from east to west. This effort reflects a continued commitment to addressing everyday issues that directly impact drivers, commuters, and families.

“In addition, embankment repairs were completed along Trimingham Hill to protect pedestrian access and ensure public safety.

Improving Safety for Road Users

“Work completed during the week included the installation of roadside fencing along Mangrove Bay Road and Cook’s Hill in Sandys, making these areas safer for pedestrians and drivers. In Devonshire, crews also installed a flashing beacon base along Middle Road to improve visibility and awareness for road users.

Upgrading Key Routes and Transport Access

“Major works are actively underway to improve traffic flow and public transport access, including:

  • “Road paving along Spanish Point Road in Pembroke, a key commuter corridor
  • “Expansion of bus laybys at Blue Hole Hill in Hamilton Parish to support safer and more efficient public transport use
  • “A pilot pothole repair programme in Paget, with additional contractor support to assist with repairs
  • “Preparatory work for new traffic lights in Flatts to improve traffic management and safety

Keeping the Momentum Going

“In the coming weeks, the Ministry will roll out additional works, including preparations for the Swing Bridge detour route in St. George’s, drainage improvements on St. John’s Road, and new fencing at Barker’s Hill roundabout.”

Minister of Public Works and Environment Jache Adams stated: “Our teams are focused on fixing roads, improving safety, and responding quickly when issues arise. While there is much work to be done we are determined to have steady, consistent delivery across the island.”

Well they need something to motivate them, so if the King’s visit is what it takes, I’m all for it.

Where was that determination 20 years ago?

Why will you not acknowledge the truth that Lt. Col. Burch spoke?

  5. Triangle Drifter says:

Nice to see that W&E is getting out to the minor roads, such as South Road in Paget, to fix a few of the potholes that have been there, and growing, for over seven months.

  6. Jus' Wonderin' says:

“A pilot pothole repair programme in Paget, with additional contractor support to assist with repairs”

  9. Triangle Drifter says:

There has been a noticable flurry of activity fixing potholes for the past few weeks.

What have all of these road crews been doing for the past months/years while vitually nothing has been done?
