Ray-Rivers Earns Peace & Social Justice Award
Debi Ray-Rivers, the Executive Director of the Saving Children and Revealing Secrets [SCARS] charity, has been awarded the Roman Catholic Church’s Peace and Social Justice award.
A spokesperson said, “Debi Ray- Rivers the Executive Director of SCARS has been awarded the Peace and Social Justice award of the Roman Catholic Church, Peace and Social Justice Ministry, for 2023. Mrs Ray-Rivers is the ninth recipient of this award.
“Prior recipients were: Dr. Barbara Ball [2008]; The Progressive Group [2009]; Dr. Dorothy Thompson [2010]; Monsignor Felipe Macedo [2012]; Mrs Gladys Misick Morrell [2014]; Dr. E.F. Gordon [2016]; Dr. Claudette Fleming [2017] and Stuart Hayward [2019].
“Mrs. Ray- Rivers received this award for determination, courage and due diligence in tackling the scourge of Sexual Abuse against children, in our Bermuda community; and, for being the architect for the commencement of SCARS in Bermuda.
“The award was presented, in the presence of a loving and supportive audience in the hall of the St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic church on Friday, October 27th which so happened also, to be the 12th anniversary of SCARS, in Bermuda.”
