Karen Smith Places Second In Age Group
Bermudian triathlete Karen Smith said she was “super proud” after finishing runner-up in her age group at the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, on Saturday [October 14].
Smith, who finished in 10hr 50min 10sec, came second in the women’s 55-59 age group, and 245th out of 2,035 competitors in the women’s race.
“Perseverance is the name of the game, and never give up as you might be rewarded!” Smith wrote on Facebook.
“Special thanks to my husband Aaron, who continues to put up with all this craziness, and of course, Paul at Pinnacle Fitness Coaching and Events, who always finds a way to get me to surpass my goals.”
Smith is the mother of top Bermudian triathlete Tyler Smith.
