On Thursday October 19th Ms. Laurie Shiell-Smith, Director of the Centre Against Abuse, was presented a cheque for $500 from The Leopards’ Club. She expressed her appreciation to President, DeRoy Butterfield, Vice President, Calvert Harvey and CEO of SF Productions, Stefan Furbert [Concert Organizer].

On Saturday, July 29th, 2023 one of the best shows I have ever seen, took place at the club and featured Bermuda’s own renowned jazz pianist, James Richardson accompanied by Stefan Furbert on drums and Wentworth ‘Wensy’ Woolridge on bass. This show was hosted by The Leopards’ Club and was packed to capacity with a variety of local musicians receiving standing ovations for over 3 hours of jazz, reggae, gospel and R&B.

The evening extravaganza was a magnet for Bermuda’s best and it left the audience amazed by the levels of professionalism and showmanship displayed.

The Leopards’ Club management have been working extremely hard to improve its facilities, increase its membership and community activities. No doubt many Bermudians recall the days where we had a myriad of venues with live entertainment. The Club is trying to sow on fertile ground which is great for entertainers looking for a central location. At the moment, the lead coach is occupied by the band “Paradise” and “Hindsight” on Friday nights and the train has been packed with hungry patrons delighted to hear these groups and others.

This is admirable but it also requires a degree of honesty as well. The prevalence of alcohol related domestic incidents needs to be addressed despite afeel good do good presentation.

There are some patrons of Leapords Club who consistently display negative social behaviour associated with alcohol misuse.

There are some patrons of pretty much every club and pub in Bermuda who consistently display negative social behaviour associated with alcohol misuse. There is no need to point at Leopards Club alone.
