“Amazing results that many knew they were capable of but incredible to watch firsthand them deliver in epic style.

“Erica stamping her authority on fourth place, followed by Tyler’s animated and intelligent race to sprint for sixth to eighth and grab an impressive seventh.

“These two showed class, poise and calmness all week. It was an honour to watch the process and execution.

“Congrats Erica and Tyler, and thanks for an incredible week.”

Butterfield, 40, competed in two Pan American Games, finishing 33rd in the men’s cycling race in Rio de Janeiro in 2007 and sixth in the men’s triathlon in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2011.
