Derbyshire & Howes Compete In FHSAA Meet

Arabella Newport Derbyshire represented Out-of-Door Academy, while Marleigh Howes represented Bolles in the FHSAA 2023 State Championship Meet in Florida.

Howes helped Bolles girls win their 33rd consecutive state title and 37th overall, while Newport Derbyshire and OUTD finished 27th in the division.

Newport Derbyshire swam the third leg during the girls 200 yard medley relay B final as her teammates finished 4th clocking a time of 1:53.27. Arabella Newport Derbyshire also finished 19th during the girls 100 yard butterfly preliminaries with a time of 59.92.

Howes clocked a time of 52.25 finishing second in the girls 100 yard freestyle B final.

During the girls 200 yard freestyle relay preliminaries Howes swam the anchor leg to help put Bolles in the A final clocking the third fastest time of 1:36.66, she did not compete in the A final team that won.

In the B – final of the girls 100 yard backstroke Newport Derbyshire finished 4th touching the wall in a time of 59.66.

Howes helped Bolles advance to the girls 400 yard freestyle relay A final when she swam the third leg in the preliminaries helping them finish 2nd with a time of 3:29.56.
