Tech Education Day Held For Students
The Economic Development Department [EDD] recently hosted the 2023 Tech Education Day, with the full-day event “aimed to inspire and educate high school students about the vast and exciting world of technology.”
A Government spokesperson said, “It featured a comprehensive agenda covering FinTech, AI, robotics, app development, cybersecurity, NFTs, bio-informatics, genetics, and other cutting-edge tech-related subjects.
“During a day of interactive presentations, students learned about the marvels of technology and the endless possibilities of problem-solving and innovation that it offers. The event emphasised the potential of these tools to shape the future and drive untold progress. Students were urged to harness the power of technology to create a better world and to be bold, curious, and fearless in their pursuit of knowledge. The message was clear: the tech leaders of tomorrow are the dreamers of today. Students were encouraged to stay inspired, passionate, and tech-savvy.”
Minister of Education Diallo Rabain, addressed the students: “Use technology as a force for good. There are countless ways to make a positive impact, whether developing solutions to address climate change, creating innovative healthcare technologies, or promoting equality and access through bioinformatics or digital platforms. Technology can bring about positive change in the world, and it’s up to each of you to harness that power and use it to create a better future for all of us.”
The Government spokesperson said, “The EDD extends its heartfelt gratitude to the many speakers and presenters who gave their time and expertise to inform and inspire tomorrow’s leaders – namely: Dr. Carika Weldon, Sean Stapley, Seth Gray, Antonia Holder, Kerem Kolcuoglu, Nick Mueller, Fernando De Deus, Amrita Bhalla, Shaun Richards, Ayanna Wolfe, Hannah Collins, and Sheldon Jones, who made valuable contributions in enlightening and inspiring the students.
“The event would not have been possible without the generous support of the various sponsors: Ingine, Burrows Lightbourn, Bermuda Waterworks, and Charge Locker. Additionally, the EDD acknowledges the invaluable partnership of the BEDC, EETTAFEL, Four Ways Inn, KIM’S list, and the Corporation of Hamilton for their support in making the 2023 Tech Education Day a resounding success.”
