Goslings Celebrates 5th Papa Seal Release
Goslings has announced the upcoming release of its fifth annual Papa Seal Single Barrel Rum on December 2, with a celebratory event planned at the Gosling’s Wine Cellar.
A spokesperson said, “This year marks the fifth consecutive release of Goslings’ annual Papa Seal Single Barrel Rum. To celebrate this milestone, Goslings is hosting the ultimate kick off to the festive season at the Gosling’s Wine Cellar on December 2.
“The father of all rums has always been released in late November or early December, selling out every year.”
E. Malcolm B. Gosling, President of Gosling’s Export [Bermuda], Ltd, said, “Five years ago we released our first single barrel rum on a rainy Tuesday in early December. We had no idea how the public would react, but when we had a line outside of our store in the rain at 8:45am and completely sold out 45 minutes after opening, we knew our customers were excited to say the least.”
The spokesperson said, “The subsequent releases – 2020, 2021, and 2022 – have been primarily online due to Covid-19.”
Andrew Holmes, Brand Director of Goslings Rum, said, “We want to first of all thank all of those that have supported us throughout the years and bring back that incredible experience we had in 2019 that you can only accomplish in person.” .
The spokesperson said, “Papa Seal Single Barrel Rum is blended from pot and column distilled rums ranging between 10 and 21 years, aged in hand-selected once-used bourbon barrels, and married in American White Oak for an additional two years in Bermuda’s humid, salty air. Each barrel is carefully looked after and rolled at least once a week to ensure the liquid in constant contact with the wood. Each bottle is then filled and labeled by hand and individually numbered by Goslings Master Blender Alexander Holmes.
“The 2023 Papa Seal Single Barrel Rum will be released on December 2 at the Gosling’s Wine Shop at 9 Dundonald Street in Hamilton starting at 10am. Due to limited quantities, customers may only purchase up to two bottles each. To celebrate Papa Seal Day, Goslings will have a festive shopping experience for everyone purchasing Papa Seal.”
Malcolm L. Gosling II, Vice President of Gosling’s Export [Bermuda] Ltd, said, “We invite everyone on December 2 to the Goslings Wine Cellar which will be set up as a winter RUMderland! We will have complimentary coffee supplied by Devils Isle, rum inspired treats from L’Artisian and Ate@8, fish chowder by Chef Chiko, eggnog, festive music, store wide discounts, and samples of newly released Goslings products.”
The spokesperson said, “A small number of bottles will be made available on Gosling’s website starting on Monday November 27, on which customers can pre-order Papa Seal Single Barrel Rum and collect their purchase from the Goslings Wine Cellar on December 2 between 10am to 3pm.
“The rest of the 2023 Papa Seal will be available in-store on December 2.”
