National Museum Promotes Katie Bennett
Katie Bennett has been promoted to Advancement Director at the National Museum of Bermuda [NMB] after serving as Advancement Officer for five years.
A spokesperson said, “In her new role, she is committed to lead the museum’s fundraising activities to ensure that NMB continues to be an invaluable educational and cultural heritage resource for Bermuda.”
Elena Strong, NMB Executive Director shared, “Katie was invaluable to the success of NMB’s The Future of History Campaign, where we raised almost $10 million to support the Museum as a vital educational resource and steadfast community partner while also elevating our Atlantic World research and thought leadership.
“I look forward to Katie continuing to articulate the Museum’s case for support and now leading the stewardship and cultivation of major and annual gifts. Her work provides the necessary financial stability for NMB to ensure that learning Bermuda history and heritage is part of every educational journey on Island.”
The spokesperson said, “Bennett holds a BA in Archaeology from Hamilton College, New York, and an MA in Museum Anthropology from Columbia University, New York. Her previous museum experience includes communications and development roles at the Museum of the City of New York, the Lower East Side Tenement Museum and the Vermont Historical Society. She wrote her Master’s thesis on NMB, exploring its transition from the Bermuda Maritime Museum to the National Museum of Bermuda in 2013.”
Ms Bennett shared: “The last five years at NMB have been an incredible experience, working closely with everyone on our small, dedicated team of experts and successfully raising nearly $10M for our Campaign, The Future of History, especially during the pandemic. This is testament to the vision and work of the National Museum, and I am thrilled to now be leading the advancement activities to ensure that NMB has a strong and stable future”.
Congratulations, Katie!
Proud of you Katie!
