Naquita Robinson, the Bermuda women’s national team coach, believes Kenni Thompson will “fit right into our plans” as they push to qualify for the inaugural Concacaf W Gold Cup.

Thompson has boosted the team’s hopes of reaching the regional competition after making herself available for the upcoming qualifiers against St Vincent and the Grenadines and the Dominican Republic.

The 22-year-old winger is yet to make her international debut and will bring a wealth of European experience to the fold, having played for several teams in Liga F – the top flight in Spain.

Kenni has made herself available for this [international] window,” Robinson told Bernews.

“We’re looking forward to having her as part of the team. She is playing at a good level in Spain, and we’re sure she will add to our team and fit right into our plans.”

Thompson penned a new one-year deal for Eibar last summer and has previously played for Espanyol, Deportivo de La Corüna and Santa Teresa.

The daughter of Kenny Thompson, the Bermuda men’s senior national team assistant coach, she also spent a season at London City Lionesses in the FA Women’s Championship, the second tier in England.

Bermuda are top of group C League B with ten points from four games and face St Vincent and the Grenadines on December 1 at home before playing second-place Dominican Republic away four days later.

The winner of the group will advance to a play-off where they will meet one of the second-place teams from League A, with the victors qualifying for the W Gold Cup in the United States from February 20 to March 10.
