BPS Recognize Marlon Cann & Litanya Smith

December 1, 2023

In advance of their upcoming retirements, Constable Marlon Cann and Constable Litanya Smith of the Bermuda Police Service were recognized for their “dedication and commitment.”

The Bermuda Police Service said, “This morning [Friday, 1st December 2023], the policing careers of Constable Marlon Cann and Constable Litanya Smith were celebrated by Commissioner of Police Darrin Simons, Deputy Commissioner Na’imah Astwood and their Bermuda Police Service [BPS] Senior Leadership Team, in light of the two Constables’ upcoming retirement.

“Each received a plaque from Commissioner Simons, in recognition of their dedication and commitment, as well as their length of service – 24 and a half years for Constable Cann and 21 years for Constable Smith.

“Although both have had varied responsibilities over the years, Constable Cann is probably best known for the time she spent as a Community Action Team officer and Schools’ Resource officer, helping to deliver the G.R.E.A.T. [Gang Resistance Education And Training] programme in the island’s schools, among other duties.

“Similarly, Constable Smith was also a Community Action Team officer and is probably best remembered – by east end residents in particular – for her work as the dedicated Town of St. George police officer.

“Thank you for your service, ladies – and we wish you all the best in your future endeavours!”
