Minister Roban’s Trip To New York Cost $5091.60

A trip in September 2023 by Minister of Home Affairs Walter Roban to New York cost $5091.60, according to a recent listing on the Government’s travel webpage.

The trip duration was listed as from September 18, 2023 – September 19, 2023, and the web page listing said, “The Hon. Walter H. Roban, JP, MP attended the 2023 Sustainable Development Goals [SDG] Summit which was held in New York from 18-19 September 2023.

“Heads of State and Government met at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to review the implementation of the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals [SDGs] which was convened under the auspices of the President of the United Nation’s General Assembly, during the UN’s high-level week.

“This is the second SDG Summit since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda in September 2015.

’145 Heads of State and Government, Ministers, as well as representatives of the intergovernmental organizations, the UN system and the stakeholders delivered statements in the SDG Summit.”

    After a casual perusal of the Government Travel Calendar a few items immediately stand out.

    Some Ministers are doing an awful lot of travel. Why?

    Most all seem to be flying much cheaper airlines and having much cheaper daily expenses than the rest of us. Only one, Curtis Dickinson, listed a believable amount.

    Then there is Premier Burt, the man who spends so little time on the island yet only has a very few trips accounted for. Where is all the information on this Premier who loves to fly?
