Bermudian Poets Collaborate In New Collection
[Written by Stephen Wright]
Bermudian poets Elijah Bean and Rhys Campbell have collaborated to create a collection of work that views the “world through a spiritual lens.”
Lumin: A Poetic Collaboration, published on December 1 and features 87 poems, was borne out of weekly meetings at sunrise in Astwood Park in Warwick, where the pair penned their words.
Mr Bean, a horticulturist, said he and Mr Campbell bonded over their shared spirituality and keen interest in “consciousness, nature and philosophy.”
The 27-year-old told Bernews: “We both have an abstract way of thinking and see the world through a spiritual lens.
“One evening, we decided to collaborate and create a book together.
“On Sundays, we would wake up about 5 am and meet in Astwood Park, write together, and bounce ideas off each other.
“After about nine months, we were ready to have the collection published.”
Mr Bean, who published his debut release Eden’naut in August 2022, added: “I hope Lumin inspires people to explore their creativity, write poetry, and find the meaning of life through nature and their daily activities.”
The pair also collaborated on Mr Campbell’s first collection of work, Animate [A Poetry Collection], published in February, with Mr Bean providing the illustrations.
Lumin, published by Dark Thirty Publishing, is available at local bookstores and Amazon.
