Q&A With Paradise Mobile CEO Sam Tabbara
Bermuda’s new mobile communications company, Paradise Mobile, has its official beta launch today with a party and giveaways at the Front Yard in Hamilton from noon to 2 pm.
Bernews asks Sam Tabbara, Paradise’s chief executive, what customers can expect, how they can win free service and more.
What was the idea behind Paradise Mobile, and why are you doing it?
Paradise Mobile began in 2019 as an idea: could we build the fastest mobile network the world has ever seen? We believed it was possible, and today that possibility is becoming a reality.
During the exploratory phase, we met representatives from the Bermuda government, whose vision of transforming and diversifying the island economy convinced us that Bermuda would be the perfect place to build our next-gen network.
Today [December 1], we are about to launch an amazing and affordable network for Bermudians, but we also see Paradise Mobile as a conduit to positioning Bermuda as an innovation hub in the Atlantic.
Thanks to its location, demographics and population density, we believe that Bermuda is the perfect sandbox for tech developers looking to create and innovate on a fast, reliable 5G network.
Tell us more about the launch on December 1 – what will happen and what people can expect.
After launching Bermuda’s first 5G network earlier this autumn, we’re now moving into public beta on December 1.
Bermuda residents can sign up now for a spot to try our Simply Unlimited plan completely free for a full year’s service.
Our beta users will be the first to enjoy unlimited data, endless local voice calling and much more as the network ramps up.
To sign up, simply visit www.ParadiseMobile.bm/plans from Friday, December 1 and register your interest.
Those who are lucky enough to receive an invitation code will then be able to get on the network within minutes thanks to a seamless onboarding process and quick eSIM installation process.
To celebrate our launch, we’re also hosting an in-person activation event at Front Yard in Hamilton from 12 pm until 2 pm on Friday, December 1.
Stop by to see us on your lunch break and we can help you get set up on the Paradise Mobile network while you enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks.
We’ll also be live to air with VIBE 103 FM, providing giveaways, and more. It’s going to be quite the party!
How many spaces are there available for free service for a year with no contracts and how can people win them?
To ensure that everyone gets the best possible Paradise Mobile experience we’re limiting the number of people who are onboarded each day, ensuring that our local customer service team can be ready to assist anyone who needs it.
Those who want to join the network will also need to ensure that they have a valid Bermuda ID and one of the newer Apple devices (iPhone 13s or SE 2022 onwards) with iOS17 installed.
Support for other devices, like the latest Samsungs and Google Pixels, will be coming in the first half of 2024.
If people don’t manage to snag one of the sought-after invitation codes for the initial sign-up period, running from December 1 to December 7, they shouldn’t stress too much.
After December 7, we’re offering six months free service with Paradise Mobile – no strings attached – through the same online process.
