Dage Minors Claims Third Butterfield Mile Title
Dage Minors became a Butterfield Front Street Mile three-time champion after winning the men’s running club championship tonight [January 12].
Minors, the pre-race favourite, finished in 4min 20.61sec to retain the title he claimed last year in 4:16.68.
The 28-year-old secured his first title in 2018 in 4:33 to become the first Bermudian to win the iconic race.
Marcel Aubrey finished runner-up in 4:22.18, and William Sanders came third in 4:22.83. Lamont Marshall placed sixth in 4:32.54.
Meanwhile, Amy Piccolo, of the United States, won the women’s running club championship in 5:17.99. Her compatriots Elise Lambert [5:20.16] and Ashley Sanderson-Snyder [5:30.35] came second and third.
In the adult local female race, Catherine Riihiluoma came out on top in 5:22.87, with Gayle Lindsay coming second in [5:28.55] and Maria Kemiji-McDonald placing third [5:29.57].
Jake Brislane won the adult local men’s race in 4:50.18. Colin Long placed second [4:53.21], and Tariq Simons rounded out the podium [4:54.23].
In the senior school girls’ race, Jaeda Grant took top honours in 5:48.95, with Azari Jones coming second [5:51.57] and Amaris Munya placing third [5:56.31].
The event is part of the three-day Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge which will continue tomorrow with the BF&M 10k race.
