Track & Field Athletes Qualify For Carifta

Bermudian track and field athletes delivered outstanding performances over the weekend, with Jaeda Grant [1500m], Norre Robinson [100m], Cameron Adkins [3000m], Jake Brislane [5000m], and Elise Dickinson [400m] securing Carifta qualifications.

A spokesperson said, “On Saturday, January 27th, Jaeda Grant [1500m] 4:57.72 joined Norre Robinson [100m] 10.79 who qualified on January 20th as Carifta qualified athletes.

“On Sunday, Cameron Adkins [3000m] 9:48.16 and Jake Brislane [5000m] 16:13.67 joined Kallan Richardson who posted a converted qualifying time in a four-mile race of 15:57.0 to qualify.

“Overseas based athlete Elise Dickinson 58:14 also met the qualifying standard in the 400m. Miles Outerbridge also joined the ranks of the qualified posting a 22:40 in the 200m.

“Other notable performances: Amaris Munya was agonizingly close too meeting the qualifying standard in the 400m posting a time 1:00.43 just 2 seconds away from the standard [58:14]. Amaris follow that performance with a 2:24.73 in the 800m just 1 second outside of the standard [2:23.00].

“Lashee Jones was just outside of qualifying time [25.25] in the 200m posting a time of 26.41.

“Overseas based athletes who early season performances bode well for Carifta eligibility include, Arima Turner, Zenji Washington, Dalen Scott, Simeon Hayward, Denver tucker and Shayla Cann.

“Bermuda National Athletic Association with the support of BermudAir is in the process of arranging a charter flight to Grenada for the Carifta Games 2024.

“After the team is selected there will be approximately 40 seats available for sale to family members, friends, and community members.
