Community Consultation On Homelessness Held
The Ministry of Youth, Social Development, and Seniors, together with Members of the ‘Plan to End Homelessness’ Advisory Panel and Steering Committee, expressed gratitude to everyone who attended the first Community Consultation Session on The Plan to End Homelessness in Bermuda.
A Government spokesperson said, “This session was a balance of informative and engaging as it focused on understanding how people become homeless and exploring the root causes.”
“The Community Consultation Sessions are a critical step in gathering diverse perspectives to help us shape a comprehensive plan that truly addresses Bermuda’s unique needs. We need the community to join us, and we have three upcoming opportunities,” said the Minister of Youth, Social Development, and Seniors, Tineé Furbert.
The Government spokesperson said, “Save the Date for Session 2: ‘Overview of the Plan to End Homelessness’: Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Chamber of Commerce.”
Minister Furbert concluded, “Session 2 will delve into the specifics of the Plan to End Homelessness, providing an overview and answering the question: What does the Plan to End Homelessness really mean? Members of the PTEH Advisory Panel and Steering Committee will be present to guide attendees through the plan and address any queries.”
The Government spokesperson said, “Bermuda, this is our plan, and we need your input because your voice matters. The Draft Consultative Plan to End Homelessness is accessible and open for feedback until February 29, 2024, online at forum.gov.bm.”
The first movie “Out Among the Ins” highlighted the issue and presented a road map for short and long term resolution. I hope they looked at the solution given then. Best of luck. Some critical issues are attached to homelessness but we don’t want to talk about the causes. This group, however are off to a good start and the foundation being laid should help with the foundation laid by The Salvation Army.
