Golf Fundraiser To Be Held At Belmont Hills

A fundraising golf tournament will be held at Belmont Hills Golf Course on Saturday [February 3] to help fund an upcoming Bermuda UK & Ireland Golf Links Society event on the island.

Kim Swan, a former PGA European Tour player, co-founded the Bermuda UK & Ireland Golf Links Society with Englishman Andrew Smith, a PGA professional, last year.

The initiative aims to promote Bermuda as a golfing destination for players in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

More than 60 local players are expected to compete in the fundraising tournament on Saturday afternoon. It will feature a captain’s choice format.

Money raised will help cover the costs of the Bermuda UK & Ireland Golf Links Society Fam Trip, held at courses such as Belmont Hills, Tucker’s Point Golf Club and Port Royal Golf Course, from March 14 to 18.

Nineteen players, professional and amateur, are so far confirmed for the tournament in March.

“Money raised will offset some of the transportation costs, incidentals, food, cocktail parties, etc for the tournament in March,” Swan told Bernews.

“We aim to build a bridge through golf to the UK and Ireland because there’s so many natural connections that will lend itself to Bermuda growing its golfing season in the winter.

“Our primary aim is to get more people golfing in Bermuda from overseas between November and April.”
