Shira Jatto, the One Communications marketing communications director, believes partnering with the Skyport Magic Mile as a gold sponsor is the perfect way for the company to engage with the local community in a “meaningful way.”

The telecoms provider has come on board as a sponsor of the iconic junior race for the first time, with Ms Jatto believing there is a “natural synergy” between One Communications and the annual event.

“The Magic Mile has truly become a long-standing community event, drawing families and young participants together in a celebration of community and athleticism,” she told Bernews.

“At One Communications, we are deeply committed to supporting initiatives that enrich the lives of our community’s youth and families.

“We see the sponsorship as an opportunity not just to show our support but to actively engage with the community in a meaningful way.

“We absolutely feel there is a natural synergy, and we are thrilled to be a part of it. We prioritise creating experiences that foster a sense of togetherness among families in the community.

“This is an event where parents and the community as a whole rally around our youth.”

The One Comm Family Zone, offering entertainment throughout the event, which takes at the Flora Duffy Stadium on Saturday [March 2], will feature face painting, caricature portraits by local artist Carlos Santana, free cotton candy, and giveaways.

The One Comm Pomm Pomm Station will also help cheer on the runners.

Ms Jatto has encouraged families to “soak up the atmosphere” and enjoy the activities on offer at the Family Zone.

“The One Comm Family Zone is something we’re incredibly excited about,” Ms Jatto added.

“Whether it’s cheering on the young participants, enjoying the festivities at the Family Zone, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

“It’s not just about the race itself, but the entire experience of coming together as a community to celebrate health, wellness, and togetherness.

“We believe that by supporting events like the Magic Mile, we’re not just investing in the present but in the future of our community. We can’t wait to see everyone there!”

The event, launched by the Bermuda Pacers Track Club in 1995, will be held from noon and is open to boys and girls aged 4 to 15.

The 4 to 5-year-old boys and girls will run one lap of the track; the 6 to 7-year-old boys and girls will run two laps; the 8 to 9-year-old boys and girls will run three laps; and all other age groups will run four laps.

Registration, costing $15, is open until 6pm on Friday, March 1. Click here to sign up.
