Bermudian boxer Saundre “Dash” Simmons blitzed American Jayvone Dafney inside the first round of their cruiserweight contest at the Evergreen Smoky Mountain Lodge in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, yesterday [February 10].
Simmons claimed his second successive stoppage since turning professional, dropping Dafney after 30 seconds with a right hook to the body before finishing his opponent with a crunching left hook to the ribs.
Dafney, 36, had won three of his 15 pro bouts but proved no match for Simmons, who ruthlessly knocked out Tre Baker in the second round in Charlotte, North Carolina, in December last year.
Simmons, who trains at Bone Breaker Gym in Morganton, North Carolina, has his third pro fight scheduled for the TJ Robinson Life Centre in Hope Mills, North Carolina, on March 9.
Born in Lancaster, Massachusetts, Simmons was raised by his Bermudian parents in Somerset before moving to Asheville, North Carolina, with his mother when he was 12.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a successful amateur career, placing runner-up at the USA National Boxing Championships in Louisiana and the Golden Gloves of America in Oklahoma in 2021.
