Skyport Excited By Enhanced Race Experience
The Skyport Magic Mile, powered by Pacers, has today introduced an enhanced experience for participants and spectators of the annual youth running event set to take place on Saturday, March 2 at the Flora Duffy Stadium at the National Sports Centre.
Organisers have extended the registration deadline to Friday March 1 at 6pm.
A press conference at the Flora Duffy Stadium issued a reminder to running clubs, physical education teachers, parents and guardians to register their children aged 4 to 15 for this weekend’s events as soon as possible.
The event was founded by the Bermuda Pacers Track Club, which continues to organise the annual children’s race, supported by title sponsor Skyport and sanctioned by the Bermuda National Athletics Association.
The event has become a staple on the community calendar, creating a platform to introduce Bermuda’s young kids to the discipline of track and field.
Spectators can bring the whole family to the stadium for free and enjoy the enhanced spectator experience, including the returning SA Kids’ Village, the One Comm Family Zone, the food truck court, and the vendor market presented by Orange Bay Company.
The staple on the youth track calendar has grown the event into a festival-type initiative supported by a generous group of sponsors.
There will be a food truck village with a wide array of delicious options from hotdogs and burgers to vegan dishes and sweet treats.
Also, there will be free face painting and cotton candy, giveaways and bouncy castles, with a climbing wall and obstacle course.
For the second year, the event will engage Bermuda Timing Systems, sponsored this year by Sol Petroleum.
The Sol Timing System will provide participants with accurate timing results, and a photo of them crossing the finish line that can be automatically emailed to each participant for a record of their achievements.
There will be giveaways throughout the day for participants and spectators and an immersive array of experiences beyond the track.
Registration for the Skyport Magic Mile is open and organisers have challenged the community to meet the target of 1,000 participants for a record-breaking 2024 edition.
Participants can be registered online at www.racedayworld.com.
The first race will begin at 12 noon, and the age divisions will run approximately 20 minutes depending on heat participant numbers until the start of the last race at 4 pm.
For race times for each age division, go to racedayworld.com. Award presentations will follow on the field directly after each age division race.
Parents and kids can collect race bibs trackside between 10 am and 2 pm (prior to their age division start time) on Saturday, March 4, at the Flora Duffy Stadium.
Limited parking will be available at the stadium, with official parking at the Arboretum.
Bermudair has come on board as a community sponsor providing airline travel to Bermuda Pacers Track Club to contribute to their meet travel needs, while Natalie Nectars is the official beverage sponsor and SAS protection services is the secure fencing sponsor.
