Video: Caitlyn Bobb Wins Three Gold Medals

Bermudian Caitlyn Bobb won three gold medals at the America East Conference Championship, triumphing in the 200m and 400m events while also leading the 4x400m relay team to victory.

University of Maryland, Baltimore County and their report said, “UMBC junior Caitlyn Bobb captured a trifecta of gold medals on the second day of America East Conference Championship competition, taking home the 200 meter and 400 meter titles and anchoring the 4×400 meter relay championship quartet.

“Bobb duplicated her 2022 feat when she captured both the 200 and 400. In the shorter race, she crossed the tape in 23.95, dropping under the 24.0-second mark for the first time in her career and ending up just 0.14 seconds shy of a school record. In the 400m, Bobb posted a time of 53.92 and freshman Genelle Stephens earned bronze, posting the fourth-best time in school history at 55.96.

“Sophomores Leanne McDonald and Shannel Sibblies combined with Stephens and Bobb to set the 1600 meter relay school record with a time of 3:44.96 and a gold medal to bring home to Baltimore.

“UMBC finished in fifth place, amassing 78 points, 70 of which occurred on the second day of competition. UAlbany won the meet with 191 points, followed by Binghamton [134], UMass Lowell [114], Bryant [93] and UMBC [78].”
