BHCF Foundation Appoints Six New Directors

The Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Foundation [BHCF] has expanded its board with the addition of six new directors, Angela Atherden, Sally-Anne Baron, Andrew Gibbs, Richard Lau, Nevine Lewis and Harriet Stuckes.

Jane Spurling, Chair of the Board, said, “The new Directors bring a wide range of experience in finance, compliance, information technology, law, marketing, human resources, and nursing to the Board.

“The appointments are timely as the BHCF positions itself to embark on a new fundraising strategy to fulfil its mission in support of the Bermuda Hospitals Board, and the delivery of healthcare services to the people of Bermuda.

“I wish to thank our continuing Directors, and those recently retired [Penny McIntyre, former Chair, Jonelle Smith, Claudia Philipsz-Jones and Mr. David Pugh, former Treasurer who is recently deceased], for their dedication and perseverance to the Foundation.”

The spokesperson said, “The new Directors are:

Angela Atherden

“Angela is the Managing Director of Apex Corporate Services Ltd [“ACSL”]. Prior to joining ACSL, Angela was Counsel in the Corporate department in the Bermuda office of Conyers. Her practice covered all aspects of corporate and commercial law, including international asset finance with a focus on aviation. She is a member of the Bermuda Bar Association and the Institute of Directors [IOD].

Sally-Anne Baron

“Sally-Anne has over 25 years in the financial and professional services industries and is a CMA and fully qualified PMP project manager. She is on the Board of the Meyer Group of Companies and Hiscox Re ILS.

Andrew Gibbs

“Andy is an experienced executive officer, currently the Group COO of PartnerRe, who has held several senior positions in both the private and public sectors of the insurance industry. He has chaired the Boards of Directors of a number of licensed insurers in the groups in which he has served.

Richard Lau

“Richard has worked in Bermuda’s technology infrastructure, networks and systems for over 20 years, having held Chief Information and Technology Officer roles within various industries. He has previously served on the board of the E-commerce Advisory Committee for the Government of Bermuda and the Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited.

Nevine Lewis

“Nevine Lewis is currently the Bermuda Country Manager for DCG International Investments Ltd., a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group Inc.; a US-based firm that fuels emerging talent and crypto technology. With over 20 years of experience as a business and operations analyst, with a focus on career and employment management, Nevine’s expertise lies in auditing support functions to identify risks and inefficiencies, and she excels in developing strategic plans to facilitate change and manage projects.

Harriet Stuckes

“Hatty is an Oncology Nurse employed at Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre. Before her current position, she worked at Bermuda Hospital’s Board on Medical and Surgical wards and in the Oncology Department.”

Kim Pratt, Executive Director for BHCF shares, “I am excited by the opportunity to work with such a talented group of individuals who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Board. The Board and I are honoured to welcome these community leaders who join the BHCF in carrying out its mission to support the Bermuda Hospitals Board [“BHB”], and ultimately the lives of those in our community.”
