BNAA Unveils Bermuda’s Carifta Team
The Bermuda National Athletics Association [BNAA] has unveiled Bermuda’s lineup for the 51st Carifta Games in Grenada.
A spokesperson said, “BNAA is pleased to share the names of athletes who have been invited to represent Bermuda at the 51st Carifta Games which will be held at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium Queens Park, St. Georges, Grenada. The games will start on Saturday, March 30th and conclude on Monday April 1st.
“This has been a difficult year preparing for these games, there are eight athletes who represented Bermuda in 50th edition of the Carifta Games, that are unavailable for this team due to injuries and illnesses. That is reflected in the fact that this team doesn’t have any Under 20 Women on this team.
“However, this team is young, dynamic, and determined. Led by returning medalists Octathlete J’Auza James and 5000m runner Jake Brislane, this team will represent Bermuda proudly. Nineteen individuals have been invited to participate in these games.
“BNAA is greatly appreciative of the Aecon who once again step in to be a sponsor of the Carifta team. Additionally, BNAA is excited that Athene has also stepped in to be a sponsor this team. It takes a village and these corporate villagers have help to make this possible.
“The coaches for this team are the Director of Athletics, Devon Bean, Gerry Swan, Albert Donawa, Jerome Richards, and Janine Scott.
