Coordinator of the PTK programme at Bermuda College, Dr. Lisa Osborne, said she was especially proud of the PTK cohort this year. “It’s the first time males have outnumbered the females, and we’re pleased to see that one-quarter of these high-performers, are dual enrolment students! I can personally attest to their passion for learning and to their outstanding commitment to excel in their studies. It will take them far.”
President of the PTK group, and CedarBridge dual enrolment student, Fabiola Adams, said, “Academic excellence has always been something I strive for. As president of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, I am allowed to not only be involved in a Bermuda College organisation, but to continue to enhance my leadership skills.
“The PTK Honor Society has met to plan our induction ceremony, and I am grateful to the members who have been actively involved in this process. In the near future, PTK looks forward to partnering with the faculty at Bermuda College to positively engage and support our peers.”
The spokesperson said, “Phi Theta Kappa recognises the academic achievement of college students in two-year colleges and provides opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders. It is the largest honour society in higher education with nearly thirteen hundred chapters on college campuses worldwide.
“Bermuda College became a member of Phi Theta Kappa in 2019 and inducted 15 students at the inaugural induction.
“Guest speaker, Taiyana Allen, is a Bermuda College/Dual Enrolment Alumna [2016], who was awarded Most Outstanding Actuarial Science Student. She currently works for Wilton Re Insurance Bermuda as an actuarial analyst.”
