Four Triathletes Set To Compete In Miami
Four triathletes — Tyler Smith, Nick Pilgrim, Oliver Hayward and Jackson Langley — are getting set to compete in Miami on Friday [March 8] at the Americas Triathlon Championships, and Patty Petty will also be in attendance as a World Triathlon official.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Triathlon Association proudly announces the participation of four male athletes in the highly anticipated 2024 Americas Triathlon Championships Miami, set to take place at the prestigious Homestead-Miami Speedway this coming Friday, March 8, 2024. This event hopes to showcase Bermuda’s prowess on the international triathlon stage with a particular spotlight shining on Tyler Smith who will continue his bid for a spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“Professional triathlete Smith will be competing in the Elite Race over the Standard Distance with Bath University student, Nick Pilgrim, set to race in the U23 category alongside him in a field of 69 competitors. Two 15-year olds, Oliver Hayward and Jackson Langley, will compete in the Junior Men’s division [16- to 19-year-olds] over the Sprint distance with 58 athletes registered.
“Patty Petty will also be in attendance as a World Triathlon official with a particular focus on the Paratriathlon events.
“The Homestead-Miami Speedway, renowned for hosting NASCAR and Indy Racing events, will provide a thrilling backdrop for the triathlon, promising an exhilarating and high-speed course. Athletes and spectators alike can expect a showcase of skill, endurance, and sheer athleticism as competitors navigate the course.”
