Scott Barnes Makes Positive Start To Pro Tour

Karting driver Scott Barnes had mixed fortunes in the Skusa Pro Tour WinterNationals in Orlando, Florida, at the weekend.
The Bermudian, competing in the Shifter Masters, made a scintillating start to the series, qualifying in pole position for the opening round on Saturday before winning the pre-final and finals race.
In the second round on Sunday, Barnes came second in the pre-final race but was involved in a collision in the finals race while in second position and did not finish.
“The highs and lows of racing,” Barnes, who races for Maranello Karts USA, wrote on Facebook.
“Great day yesterday, not so much today. Running P2 in finals with six [laps] to go and got taken out by a complete jackass move. Gotta love racing.
“Overall, good points weekend. Thinking big picture. It’s going to be a long championship flight.
“Can’t thank Maranello Karts USA and Carblos Racing Engines enough for the opportunity to drive for them this year.
“[The] kart and motor are awesome. Looking forward to fighting for these championships.”
The Pro Tour continues with the SpringNationals at the Motorsports Country Club in Batavia, Ohio, from June 14 to 16 and the SummerNationals at the New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, Indiana, from July 26 to 28.
Barnes has a proven track record in the Pro Tour, winning the Shifter Masters title in 2020 and coming runner-up in 2021.
The 39-year-old returns to action this weekend in the final round of the Rok USA Florida Winter Tour in Orlando.
He secured two podium finishes in the Shifter Masters and L206 Masters in the second round of the Winter Tour in Orlando last month.
