Boxing Development League At Whitney

The Bermuda Boxing Federation [BBF] will hold the first in a series of Development League tournaments at Whitney Institute tomorrow [March 9].
The event, which runs from noon to 4 pm, will feature sanctioned fights, masters, celebrity, corporate and charity bouts, and open sparring for elite and youth competitors.
Nathan Dill, the BFF president, said the goal was to hold a Development League tournament every two to three months.
“We have many kids in our school programmes at Controversy Gym, CebarBridge Academy, Warwick Academy, and Whitney Institute,” Dill told Bernews.
“We recognise the pro/amateur events we hold at the Fairmont Southampton, the National Stadium and The Shed in Dockyard aren’t always the best for a first-time boxer.
“We want to create opportunities for these kids to get some ring experience not in front of a large crowd.”
Dill said the BBF was looking to swell its stable of fighters and create a national team of male and female members.
“We’ve had individuals in Andre Lambe, Tyler Christopher, and Adrian Roach, who have done phenomenally, and we want to replicate that success,” Dill added.
“We want a team of male and female boxers when we represent Bermuda at overseas tournaments. Amongst them, we will have the shining stars who will go on to compete professionally.”
