Drivers To Race In Lindo’s Doubleheader
Two days of high-octane racing will take place at the Bermuda Motorsports Park in St David’s as part of the inaugural Lindo’s Doubleheader Race Weekend on March 23 and 24.
More than 40 local drivers, plus international karter Mario Gill, of Canada, will compete in seven classes: Cadet, Tag Junior, Tag Senior, L206 Senior, L206 Masters, Stock Shifter and KZ Shifter.
Among the top local names involved will be Ryan Rebello, Stephen Corrado, Blake Horseman, Brandon Franks, David Selley, Jason Correia and Shannon Caisey.
There will be two races on both days in each class, with drivers earning points, which will determine the overall class winners.
Jason North, the Bermuda Karting Club president, said he hopes the event draws a bumper crowd to the Southside racing venue.
“Normally, we have these two-day races as street races, but we decided to do it at our facility to bring people down to our track,” North told Bernews.
“It’s something a little different. A lot of people see us when we race on the streets but not at the track.’
Visiting driver Gill has competed in top overseas races such as the Skusa SuperNationals in Las Vegas and the Skusa Pro Tour WinterNationals and SpringNationals.
“Mario is racing in Bermuda for the first time,” North said. “It will be nice to see him up against our local hotshots. It’s going to be a good line-up.”
Also on show will be exhibition races involving the Bermuda Motorcycling Racing Club and the Bermuda Drag Racing Association.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to St John Ambulance.
“It’s generating some excitement, and hopefully we’ll get some decent weather,” North added.
“We’ve put plenty of effort into it, and it should be a good show.”
The event, starting at 12.30 pm on both days, featuring food vendors and a kids’ entertainment area, is sponsored by Lindo’s, with supporting sponsors Chubb and Auto Solutions.
A Rubis “Hot Pit Pass” is available for $20 per day or $30 for both days.
