[Written by Stephen Wright]
Bermudian Rick Wright won his first match in charge of Greenville Triumph after his side’s recent 3-1 home victory over Spokane Velocity in the USL League One.
Goals from Zion Scarlett, Evan Lee and Leo Casto ensured Greenville made a winning start to their campaign.
“You guys saw such a great performance from a team that has a tremendous desire to win,” Wright told the club’s website. “They proved it tonight, and we’re going to continue to prove it.”
Wright succeeded former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder John Harkes as head coach after serving as assistant coach since 2019.
A former Saltus Grammar School student, Wright made appearances for the Bermuda and United States national teams.
He has been involved with South Carolina football since 1976, helping launch Anderson University’s football programme before serving as head coach for four years.
Greenville’s next league match is at home to Forward Madison on March 23.
