Trenching Work To Begin On Bermudiana Road
The City of Hamilton is advising that “trenching work will shortly commence along Bermudiana Road to replace the current sewer line.”
A spokesperson said, “Work will begin April 1st and is expected to last three to four weeks. During this time there will be no parking along Bermudiana Road; this includes cycle parking. Alternative cycle parking may be found at Gorham Road, Par La Ville Road, Front Street, Par La Ville Car Park [cycle bays] and surrounding areas.
“Work hours will be between 7:30am and 4:00pm daily Monday to Friday.
“All business operators on the eastern side of Bermudiana Road should expect scheduled and temporary disruptions to their service during this work. Direct notifications will be provided to those establishments with as much advance notice as possible. Outdoor dining along Bermudiana Road will be suspended for the duration of works.
“The sewer lines along Bermudiana Road are more than 100 years old and have surpassed their life’s use. City teams have recently identified leaks along this length of pipe, and the pipe must be replaced before the situation becomes a health and safety concern. The City will endeavor to minimize disruptions to the public during this time.”
“It is likely that at some point during the works, buses may be diverted onto Queen Street due to the location of trenching works on Bermudiana Road. This will be communicated to the Bermuda Public Transportation Board [PTB] with as much advance notification as possible.”
