Four New Members On Bermuda College Board
Bermuda College welcomed four new members – Denton Williams, Shelby Weldon, Dr. Lana Talbot and Jozelle Opoku — to its Board of Governors.
A spokesperson said, “Bermuda College has welcomed four new members to its Board of Governors. Denton Williams, Shelby Weldon, Dr. Lana Talbot and Jozelle Opoku were welcomed by Board Chairman, Mr. Nasir Wade who said the four will bring “years of experience and professional leadership” representing a range of relevant careers in finance, IT, regulatory and compliance, social sciences, and operations to help advance and fulfil the mission of the College.
“Mr. Williams is Chief Executive Officer of the BAC Group of Companies, and serves as Deputy Chairman of the Board. He brings 29 years of industry experience in electrical engineering and information technology, of which eight were at the senior executive level.
“Mr. Weldon, CPA is President and Deputy Chairman of HLB Bermuda Advisory and Accounting Ltd. Prior to joining HLB in June 2020, Mr. Weldon served as Senior Vice President of Marsh Management Services [Bermuda] Ltd., providing insurance management services to a portfolio of captive and commercial insurance companies.
“Dr. Lana Talbot, is an Educational and Child Psychologist. An alumna of Bermuda College, she has received numerous educational awards, and has presented numerous professional workshops locally and overseas, on topics such as behaviour, learning difficulties, and the social-emotional development of young people.
“Ms. Jozelle Opoku, CPA is President and Chief Executive Officer of CPA Bermuda, and serves on the National Workforce Development Advisory Board. Jozelle holds a Bachelor of Business, Commerce [Valedictorian] from Laurentian University, and obtained her Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2015 through the CPA Atlantic School of Business programme while employed by KPMG in Bermuda. For the past 5 years, Jozelle has been employed by the Regulatory Authority of Bermuda, most recently as Head of Regulation.”
“They will join current Board members to ensure that the College is strategically placed as a world-class institution of higher learning, while maintaining its grounding as the “community’s College”, said Mr. Wade.”
