The Department of Modern Foreign Languages coordinated the Warwick Academy’s yearly secondary International Day, serving as a “celebration of cultural diversity and unity.”
A spokesperson said, “The Department of Modern Foreign Languages was excited to be once again organise the Warwick Academy annual secondary International Day. This day is a celebration of cultural diversity and unity, much enjoyed by the school community. There was a whole school grub day with proceeds going towards a local and international charity. Students wore the colours of a chosen flag, national dress, their favourite football jersey, dressed in clothing that reflects their heritage.
“Our International Day started with a special secondary assembly, and during the school day students were involved in lessons with an international flavour. In the afternoon, students participated in a variety of workshops or activities including Scottish dancing, art, learning about a different country or culture, salsa dancing, music workshops and cooking.
“At recess, students had an opportunity to sample a variety of foods from around the world. students brought in a portion of food to share and dishes were labeled with their country of origin.”
