Gayle Lindsay has her sixth successive Swan’s Running Club Legends Series women’s title in her sights after dominating the first three races of the annual competition.
Lindsay won the Ludwig Cann 10K Run at the weekend, finishing in 38min 29sec, having already claimed victory in the Ed Sherlock 8K Run in February [31:31] and the Ray Swan Flat 8K [30:23] last month.
She leads the standings with 75 points, 30 ahead of second place Teresa Ruiz [45], with one race remaining, the Bermuda Healthcare “Sir” Stanley Burgess 5K in Devonshire on May 5.
“It doesn’t seem that long since my first series, but it was back in 2018!” Lindsay told Bernews.
“It’s great to have been part of the event from almost the beginning and to have seen it grow over the years. I think participant numbers have doubled in that time.
“Swan’s Running Club continues to do a great job organising the series. I’m excited to be sitting at the top of the leaderboard. To win six straight titles would be a nice legacy.”
Lindsay, who won her first Bermuda Half Marathon Derby title last year, said she has been delighted with her form this season.
“I’ve enjoyed the first three races of the series,” said Lindsay, who moved to Bermuda from Scotland in 2013.
“My favourite course is the Ray Swan 8K, and I was delighted to run a new personal best for that distance a few weeks ago.
“The Ludwig Cann 10K was a more challenging course, but it was fun to be amongst a great group of runners.
“I’m looking forward to the final race but not putting too much pressure on myself. I’ll give it my best effort and see what happens.”
