Traffic: Ludwig Cann & RenaissanceRe Races
The Ministry of Public Works has issued Road Traffic Notices for the Ludwig Cann 10K Race scheduled for Sunday [April 7] and the RenaissanceRe 5 Mile and 10 Mile Races scheduled for Sunday, April 14.
Ludwig Cann 10K Race
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists that the Ludwig Cann 10k Race will occur on Sunday, April 7th, 2024, between 8:00 am and 10:00 am. The following roads will be affected:
Race Routes:
“The 10k race commences at the Western End of Astwood Park on South Road. The participants continue West along South Road to St. Anne’s Church where they turn around and return to the finish line at Astwood Park.
Traffic Control:
“The running/walking race will commence on Sunday, April 7th, 2024, at 8:00 am and is expected to conclude by 10:00 am. There will be Road Marshals present to direct traffic and signage will be placed along the route.
Road Closures:
“There will be no road closures. All motorists are expected to use caution and avoid collisions with race participants. The race route will be under the control of Road Marshals. Motorists are asked to follow the instructions given by the Road Marshals to assist with traffic control for this event.
“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the motoring public and apologises for any inconvenience that may result. Should there be any questions regarding this event, please direct queries to the attention of the race representative, Amin Smith at 520-9747.
RenaissanceRe 5 Mile and 10 Mile Races
“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists that the RenaissanceRe 5 Mile and 10 Mile Races will occur on Sunday, April 14th, 2024, between 7:30 am and 11:00 am. The following roads will be affected:
Race Routes:
“The 10 mile running race commences at the South Gate of the Botanical Gardens on South Road. The participants continue East along South Road to the turnaround location just after the junction of Paynters Road and South Road. They return to the finish line at the Lagoon Property opposite to the South Gate of the Botanical Gardens on South Road.
“The 5 mile running/walking race commences at the South Gate of the Botanical Gardens on South Road. The participants continue East along South Road to the turnaround location at the West Carpark Entrance of Spittal Pond. They return to the finish line at the lagoon Property opposite to the South Gate of the Botanical Gardens on South Road.
Traffic Control:
“The running/walking races will commence on Sunday, April 14th, 2024, at 7:30 am and are expected to conclude by 11:00 am. There will be Police Officers present to direct traffic along the route.
Road Closures:
“There will be no road closures. All motorists are expected to use caution and avoid collisions with race participants. The race route will be under the control of Police Officers who will be stationed at the following locations:
- The Botanical Gardens
- Junction of Tee Street and South Road
- Junction of Brighton Hill and South Road
- Junction of Collector’s Hill and South Road
- Junction of Knapton Hill and South Road
“Motorists are asked to follow the instructions given by the Police Officers to assist with traffic control for this event.
“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the motoring public and apologises for any inconvenience that may result. “In addition, the Bermuda police are hereby authorised to ‘Close-Off’ streets or portions of streets and authorise parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.”
