Women’s Centre Launch Transform Programme
The Women’s Resource Centre [WRC] announced the launch of its new therapeutic programme, TRANSFORM, which is designed to provide women with access to the tools needed to help them build – or rebuild – healthy and fulfilling lives.
“The programme efficiently packages the core services offered by the WRC into a 9 month in depth therapeutic experience, consisting of individual counselling, life skills education and training opportunities for employment or entrepreneurship.
“Women aged 25 and over are encouraged to apply for one of the 10 available spaces in the first cohort of this transformative programme. Registration is open and an information session is planned for 2pm this Sunday, April 28th.”
Juanae Crockwell, Executive Director of The Women’s Resource Centre said, “We are very excited to launch the TRANSFORM programme and support ten women on their journey towards a healthier, happier and more fulfilling life. This programme is a collection of our foundational services – counselling and support, education and training, and advocacy and awareness – and will provide participants with the support network needed to make positive life changes.”
“WRC intends for this programme to be a vehicle towards improved mental and emotional health, employability, and independence. However, it will be a deeply personal experience for each participant and their goals and outcomes will vary.”
The spokesperson said, “The programme will consist of three phases. Phase one will focus on therapeutic intervention to address trauma and help manage mental and emotional challenges. Therapeutic services will be provided to participants by Camille Creary, founder of Cocoon Work Bda. and one of WRC’s consultant mental health counsellors.
“During phase two life skills training will be incorporated with the support of various community partners to provide education on subjects such as budgeting, resume writing and interview skills. All of these topics are designed to better equip participants to achieve self-sufficiency.”
The spokesperson said, “Upon the successful completion of phases one and two, participants will move on to the third phase, which includes mentorship and an opportunity to pursue an education or training programme of their choice.
“Exclusively sponsored by HSBC Bermuda Limited, TRANSFORM will run from June 2024 through February 2025. Interested women, aged 25 and older are invited to apply for one of the ten available spaces.”
HSBC Executive Sponsor, Yolanda Outerbridge shared, “We are delighted to once again partner with WRC for the launch of their TRANSFORM Programme. At HSBC, we understand the significance of supporting local initiatives aimed at addressing social, economic, and gender disparities. Our continued support underscores our commitment to foster collaborative and empowering opportunities that nurture the development and personal growth of women to navigate life successfully.”
The spokesperson said, “The programme will also collaborate with community partners and organisations, including but not limited to Adult Education Services, Bermuda Economic Development Corporation, and the Bermuda College, to deliver services and provide education and training opportunities.”
Ms. Crockwell continued, saying, “The Women’s Resource Centre is grateful to HSBC Bermuda Limited for sharing in our vision and providing the financial support, subject matter expertise and mentorship to make this programme possible. We believe whole heartedly that when you invest in women, all of society are beneficiaries of that investment.”
The spokesperson said, “Applications for TRANSFORM are available on the WRC website – www.wrcbermuda.com – or by visiting the WRC office at Sofia House on Church Street.
“Interested persons are encouraged to attend the information session on Sunday April 28th at 2:00pm at the WRC office to learn more and to be supported with the application process.”
