ASU BIOS To Host Events Around Ocean Day

ASU BIOS is set to celebrate over 120 years of marine research in Bermuda with a gala on June 7 and an open house on June 8, featuring music, food, talks, and facility tours.

A spokesperson said, “ASU BIOS is looking forward to welcoming the community to some public events around World Ocean Day in a couple of weeks. The ASU BIOS Celebration theme is “Navigating Ocean Sciences Since 1903”.

“We’ll be hosting a gala Celebration Reception on Friday, June 7, 7 –10p.m. at Rosewood Tuckers Point. We invite the public to join us in celebrating more than 120 years of marine and ocean research conducted in Bermuda, through the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, which is part of Arizona State University. There will be live music provided by the Unit featuring Gita-Blakeney Saltus, food drink and some short comments, with one or two exciting announcements. Tickets are $150.

“Then we’re hosting an Open House on Saturday, June 8, 10a.m. –4p.m., at our campus at Ferry Reach.

“The public is invited to come visit our ocean science facilities and participate in engaging talks highlighting our programs. Our research and education staff will be on hand to share their work and answer questions. Our technology and research vessels will also be on show for the public to explore. Admission is free.
