“On Saturday 11th May 2024 BermudAir’s crew was alerted to an incident caused by our third-party ground handling services supplier in Bermuda that resulted in damage to one of our aircraft,” a spokesperson said.

A spokesperson said, “The damage required taking the aircraft out-of-service, leading to cancellation of one departure from Bermuda and its return. Subsequent assessments concluded that, in the ultimate interests of overall safety, the aircraft should be taken overseas to be repaired. We were granted permission for the aircraft to leave Bermuda for this to take place. An investigation by local authorities into the incident is also currently underway to avoid these disruptions to BermudAir and its passengers going forward.

“Our Customer Service team assisted passengers directly impacted by making bookings on the next available flights. The impact on the aircraft from the incident has been fully evaluated and addressed, with the support of our aircraft partner Embraer.

“The aircraft was approved for return to service and returned to Bermuda yesterday. We regret the inconvenience this unfortunate situation created and will continue to place top priority on the safety of our customers and crew members. We sincerely thank everyone for their understanding as we worked through it.”
