Final Countdown To Apex Group Bermuda SailGP
The Apex Group Bermuda Sail Grand Prix will kick off this weekend. Tickets are selling fast and there’s still time to buy tickets.
A spokesperson said, “The sporting event of the season, the Apex Group Bermuda Sail Grand Prix, kicks off a weekend of sailing excellence and entertainment from this Saturday.
“A practical guide to the weekend’s events is available today as a pullout in The Royal Gazette; the guide lays out the day-to-day details of the event and includes maps, schedules, vendors and more.
“The weather forecast for the weekend – a mix of sun and cloud with moderate winds – is set to be favorable conditions for the most exciting SailGP event of Season 4. Tickets are selling fast and there’s still time to buy tickets – SailGP.com/Bermuda to get yours. Saturday tickets include an Aprés Sail Party featuring KES THE BAND.
“Parking is available at both the Race Stadium and at the Transport Hub at White Hill. Limited spaces are available; therefore ticket holders are encouraged to reserve a spot ahead of time by going to SailGP.com/Bermuda, and selecting ‘Book Parking’. In the interest of reducing carbon emissions, SailGP is encouraging participants to carpool to the Race Stadium. If traveling by taxi, public transit, or on foot, ticket holders are asked to board the shuttle buses at the White Hill Transport Hub to be transferred to the Race Stadium.
“With its ambition to be the world’s most sustainable sporting event, single-use plastics are not permitted in the Race Stadium. Water fountains and bottle refill stations will be available throughout the venue so fans can stay hydrated.
“Excited fans working up an appetite can enjoy tasty treats provided by local businesses: Ashley’s Lemonade, DuchPops, Goslings, Jazzy Treats, Om Juiceries, Sensational Delights, and Spot Restaurant & Bar. For family fun, kids can get creative with our coloring wall, and face painting with Sniggle’s. Yassine the Artist will be on hand to customize SailGP merchandise, and DJ Rusty G along with the H&H Gombeys will be on hand to keep the rhythms going.
“As with all outdoor events, SailGP wants their fans to enjoy the racing in the most comfortable way possible. Reef-safe sunscreen or other appropriate sun protection is a great way to stay safe in the sun as shade at the venue will be limited. Flat shoes are also recommended for those attending the Race Stadium at Morgan’s Point as there are unpaved areas to be mindful of.
“Boat owners planning to take in the event can get closer to the action with the purchase of a Bring Your Own Boat [BYOB] ticket to secure a spot along the racecourse boundary – offering the best vantage point in the Great Sound.
“In addition to receiving a souvenir flag, boaters will also be able to listen to live race commentary on VHF, have their carbon footprint offset and – for those attending Saturday’s event, enjoy the Aprés Sail Party featuring KES THE BAND. Collection of BYOB kits is available from Waterfront Man at 29 Front Street in Hamilton from Thursday and continuing on Friday, between 11:30am and 6pm.
