Mass General Brigham has made donations to Bermuda charities The Eliza Dolittle Society [TEDS] and Endeavour.

A spokesperson said, “Following a whirlwind few weeks of on-island events, Mass General Brigham has made donations to local charities, The Eliza Dolittle Society and Endeavour.

“The Boston-based hospital system sent representatives to the island to participate in the 36th End-to-End and the Relay for Life, which took place this past weekend. Following the success of the event, the organisation donated the leftover supplies of hundreds of fresh oranges, lip balms and reef-safe sunblock.

“TEDS provides assistance directly to clients through its food pantry in Warwick, which is supplied by purchased and donated food from the local community, farmers, grocers and businesses. Its goal is to reduce the cost of food for our clients by providing a bag/bags of groceries, based on the size of their household.

“Endeavour is a local organisation dedicated to making sailing accessible to all – regardless of socioeconomic background, skill level or physical ability by providing youth with STEAM through Sailing learning opportunities within a fun, safe, supportive, and diverse environment.”

Kerin Howard, Executive Director of Global Patient Services for Mass General Brigham, said, “Over the past decade we have delivered world-leading medical care to thousands of Bermudian patients, working closely with on-island physicians and healthcare partners. As part of our commitment to providing the best sub-specialty care off island, we regularly visit the island and are pleased to have been able to support so many good causes during our last two trips.”

Jennifer Pitcher, Executive Director of Endeavour, said, “We are very grateful to Mass General Brigham’s for their donation of reef-safe sunblock for our young sailors. With summer just around the corner, we recognise the importance of prioritising sun protection habits, while protecting our Island’s beautiful reefs and marine life.”

Clare Mello-Robinson, Executive Director of The Eliza Dolittle Society, said, “The Eliza Dolittle Society aims to provide healthy and nutritious solutions to those with food insecurity in Bermuda, helping to enhance their quality of life. To this, we rely on the support of corporate and community partners. As such, we are delighted to have received another donation from Mass General Brigham. Fresh fruit is a particular treat for those visiting us.”
