Police Confirm: Man Dies After Stabbing

[Updated] A 17-year-old male has been arrested after a 20-year-old man was stabbed at Horseshoe Bay Beach this afternoon [May 24], the police have confirmed, with the police subsequently confirming that the victim has died.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 3:15 PM on Friday, 24th, May 2024 police responded to a report of a disturbance at the Horseshoe Bay Beach.

“On police arrival, it was ascertained that a 20-year-old man had been stabbed and was being assisted by on duty lifeguards.

“EMTs attended the location and transported the man to King Edward Memorial Hospital, where he is being treated for multiple stab wounds.

“A 17 year old male has been arrested in connection with this incident.

“Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or recorded the incident, to contact the Criminal Investigation Unit on 211.”

Update 8.37pm: The police have confirmed the sad news that the man has died.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm, that the young man who was injured during a stabbing incident at Horseshoe Bay Beach earlier today, has succumbed to his injuries.

“The investigation surrounding the circumstance of his death is now being carried out by the Serious Crime Unit. Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed this incident or recorded the incident, to contact Acting Det. Inspector Anneka Donawa on 717-2250 or adonawa@bps.bm.”
