Duffy Set For Long-Awaited Return In Japan
Dame Flora Duffy will make her long-awaited return to competitive action in the World Triathlon Championship Series [WTCS] Yokohama in Japan on Saturday [May 11].
Duffy has not raced for 18 months because of a serious knee injury and will hope to come through the standard distance race [1.5-kilometre swim, 40km bike and 10km run] unscathed as she builds towards the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.
The Olympic champion will also look to compete in the WTCS Cagliari, Italy, on May 25, which will be her final outing before the women’s triathlon at the Olympics on July 31.
The 36-year-old’s previous appearance came at the World Triathlon Championship Finals in Abu Dhabi in November 2022, when she claimed a record fourth world title.
Duffy is 30th in the Olympic rankings ahead of the two-year qualification period, which ends on May 27.
